František flew with the RAF's No. 310 Squadron, which was a Czechoslovak unit. He flew a variety of aircraft during the war, including the Hurricane, Spitfire, and Mustang. He fought in the Battle of Britain, the D-Day landings, and the Battle of the Bulge.
