Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1849, Kellar began his career as a magician at the age of 17. He quickly rose to fame with his innovative illusions and captivating stage presence. In 1884, he opened his own theater in Philadelphia, which became a popular destination for audiences eager to witness his extraordinary performances.
Kellar's illusions were known for their grandeur and complexity. He was the first magician to perform the "levitation" illusion, in which he appeared to float in mid-air.
