Lionel Hitchman was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1925 to 1934. He was a member of the Bruins' first Stanley Cup championship team in 1929.

Hitchman was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on January 1, 1902. He began playing hockey at a young age and quickly developed into a skilled player. He played for several junior teams in Ottawa before joining the Bruins in 1925.

Playing Career

Hitchman quickly became a valuable member of the Bruins. He was a tough and physical player who was not afraid to mix it up with opponents. He was also a good skater and puckhandler.

Hitchman was a key member of the Bruins' Stanley Cup championship team in 1929. He played in all five games of the series against the New York Rangers and scored two goals.

Hitchman continued to play for the Bruins for several more seasons after their Stanley Cup victory. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1934, but he only played one season with them before retiring.

Post-Playing Career

After retiring from hockey, Hitchman worked as a scout for the Bruins. He also coached several minor league teams.

Hitchman died in Ottawa on March 18, 1977. He was 75 years old.
